Queensland based, non-profit organisation STEPS has pulled out of a move to take over the administering of the iconic Alice Springs Beanie Festival.

Earlier this year, Beanie Fete co-ordinator Jo Nixon, said the new arrangement was to secure the future of the episode.

The organisation declined to be interviewed but said the following in a statement:

"...through the due diligence system the Board came to the conclusion, in addition to funding and training fortify, in order for the Beanie Festival to continue it needs local on the ground validate (ie. man-power) which Steps, at this point, was unable to provide."

Speaking with ABC Mornings' Nadine Maloney today, Ms Nixon said the Beanie Birthday committee were 'disappointed' but looking forward to exploring other options.

"It's full steam at the and we're busy looking at other options, to keep the festival going and to keep it strong," she says.

"We'll be prosperous out to Alice Springs businesses and asking them for some financial and other support.
