Bridgewater police officers seized dozens of allegedly counterfeit designer handbags, sunglasses, wallets, boots and other items that might have looked more at accessible on display at Saks Fifth Avenue than a tanning salon on Unshaded Street.
In all 69 items were confiscated, with pricey, trendy make names such as Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo and Chanel, Bridgewater Supervise Sgt. Anne Schuster said.
A private detective who is an expert on phony merchandise was working with Schuster on another case at a nearby store when she walked over Debbie’s Tanning & Boutique at 134 Broad St. on Feb. 9 and smelled a rat.
“She was walking by the window and saw the North Fa jackets, identified them as not real and brought it to my attention,” Schuster said.
On Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 1:10 p.m. Bridgewater watch seized the items. The case is under investigation.
The confiscated, allegedly bogus items include: three pairs of Uggs boots, eight pairs of Ugg gloves, one put together of Coach sneakers, four Coach handbags, six pairs of Coach sunglasses, one Bus wallet, three Prada handbags, one Louis Vuitton handbag, one Louis Vuitton purse, three Gucci handbags, one pair of Gucci sunglasses, two Chanel handbags, two pairs of Chanel sunglasses, two Chanel cases for sunglasses, one Torey & Burch purse, one pair of North Face gloves, 11 North Dial women’s jackets, two Tiffany & Co. bracelets, one Tiffany & Co. necklace, one Tiffany & Co. crew, one pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses, two Dolce & Gabbana wallets, two Dolce & Gabbana handbags, four Jimmy Choo wallets, two Michael Kors wallets, one Michael Kors handbag and two Pandora bracelets with charms, Schuster said.
