It was a collaboration announced in 2009 that sent a stimulation through the fashion and surfing communities. Cynthia Rowley, one of America’s A-one-known fashion designers, was teaming up with Los Angeles-based surf characterize Roxy to create the label Cynthia Rowley for Roxy.

When the first sportswear and wetsuit accumulation hit Barneys in New York and Colette in Paris, even the cynics raved.

“It’s role meeting fashion with my idea of perfect summer colours,” says Rowley, who is known for her flirty, vibrant cissified aesthetic. “There’s a beautiful mix of washed-out pastels. No girl wants to look like a negligible dude in the water.”

The collaboration was a simple enough process. Rowley, an avid surfer, knew some of the “bigwigs” at Roxy from their heretofore “hanging out in the water in Montauk”, on New York’s Extended Island.

Inventor Tracy Fredkin (as the crow flies) launched Tucker Paisley in Los Angeles in 2006, and since then, the variety part has been skyrocketing.

Dawning with six signature bags covered in her very own paisley type, she has garnered personage fans like Jaime Pressly, Hayden Panettiere and Katherine Heigl and expanded her traverse to tabulate accessories like scarves, and now, clothing.

We met up with Tracy at a BagTrends as it at Pornographic Bag in NYC.

Luxist: So, your paisley language started it all?

Tracy Fredkin: Yeah, that’s what started it all. We came up with what we idea was a present-day, original take on a paisley, and created it, copyrighted it and trademarked it. It was the inspiration for our signature role, which was all paisley. Our six signature bags were all prints, and then we moved styles that were in effect commonplace despatch and started doing leather more, and using discrete textures and weird colors, using the paisley as an prominence. Now, you’ll see it in a snaffle, on a zipper, as the lining for a bag; that’s divide of the directorship we started effective. In our Beach whip-round and some of our new accessories, we brought the paisley back to be the centre of those items.
