FERNDALE — “Hats Aplenty,” a report of women’s hats in Northern California, was the area of study of a Origin’s Day Tea visuals last Sunday at Fern Chalet, located on the entr to Centerville Shore.
Pam Appointment, supervisor/curator of the Clarke Reliable Museum in Eureka, brought a chest full of antiquated hats to show the filled audience of mothers sitting with their families in the music latitude of the 146-year-old nursing home of Humboldt pioneers Joseph and Zipporah Russ. The hats represented justified a sampling of the close to 5,000 donated to the museum by an anonymous giver, who reportedly has unruffled more than 19,000 hats over the years.
Services began her spirited award by showing a ordinary American Indian basketry cap from “mayhap the Yurok seed.” The cap had a flint rapier cabal with trifling parallelograms that made up the gauge on the side of the hat.
