What is the point/use of a Peak on a motorcycle helmet?

Question: With my bike I have an Arai Peregrination-X 3 Helmet & it has a peak like an MX helmet, but no Goggles. It has a unstop visor. & its Very nice!

Its a very elevated touring helmet.
