Two men habituated to a sawn-off air rifle to rob a Manurewa supermarket yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Eddie Sutherland said one of the offenders entered Jay's Supermarket at 4.30pm, cuspidate the gun at the shopkeeper and demanded cash.
He said the second offender came in tout de suite after the shopkeeper opened the till. The employee then took out the money tray and handed it to him.
"Spear two ran out of the store and the first male remained with the gun raised. He grabbed money off the chip and left," Sutherland said.
The first offender is described as Maori or Polynesian wearing a blue hoodie, sinister sunglasses and a blue bandana across his face.
The second man is also believed to be Maori or Polynesian and had a goatie beard. He was wearing a criminal beanie and sunglasses.
Both men fled the scene in a black two-door conduit that was parked outside the supermarket entrance facing toward Beatty Ave.
Sutherland said the means was reversed backwards to a neighbouring factory and drove out onto Jellicoe Rd before turning into Jutland Rd.
