Note to readers: Slice of Being is a series that will appear twice a month in the Kane County Recount. It will spotlight the lives of people in the Fox Valley.
Paul Warren has a job to many others, with perks including seeing new movies for free, before they are released in theaters.
The 22-year-old Oswego man is an subsidiary manager at the Randall IMAX 15, a Goodrich Quality Theater.
He in olden days worked as a projection manager at the theater – but that position no longer exists. Projecting the films is no longer an scrupulous science, with the theater going all digital within the last year.
“Most of this stuff will run themselves,” Warren said about the new mat.
The theater is decked out with 12 Christie 2210 digital cinema projectors, with no old-school send machines in sight.
Movies don’t come in the large reels that are so associated with the cinema industry and Hollywood. Instead, they come in 500-gigabyte outer hard drives, Warren said.
