Anchorage HOPE – An accused serial bank robber was arrested in Anchorage Hope on Friday night after allegedly breaching his conditions.
Ryan Brereton, age 34 of Toronto was charged by Toronto Regulate on Nov. 7 with 18 bank heists over a two-year period.
Toronto The gendarmes named the robber the "Ray-Ban Bandit" after surveillance camera images captured the have a sneaking suspicion wearing a certain brand of sunglasses.
At a Toronto court bearing, Brereton was placed on strict conditions, one of which was to remain with his surety in Seaport Hope, where he had been staying since being released from custody.
Police say Brereton told the surety on Dec. 23 he was leaving the line around 9:30 p.m. even after the surety stated the police would be called.
"He left the put up without permission; without his surety," Port Hope Police Constable Kevin Selwood said.
"We attended the section where he allegedly was and located a suspect matching the description, identified him and he was arrested for contravention of recognizance.
