The well-read lens will be packed with circuits, sensors and wireless technology, all designed to keep an eye on your form.
"The prospect of these lenses is almost mind boggling because this is potentially the future of where cure-all is going," according to eye surgeon Brian Boxler Wachler.
Researchers at the University of Washington on a smart lens could someday replace the standard blood test.
They says bio-markers found in the blood like cholesterol, sodium, potassium and glucose are also found on the outside of the eye.
So people with diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2, who have to regularly prickle their finger to monitor blood sugar, will someday be able to gear a smart lens, which can check blood sugar levels painless and automatically, at all times.
Another fashionable lens is the "Triggerfish."
Available in Europe, the Triggerfish is designed to diagnose glaucoma, the other leading cause of blindness.
Experts say to diagnose and treat glaucoma, a themselves's eye pressure must be repeatedly measured and monitored, in addition to other tests.
